RE: table of content

Hi Bonita

Thank you for your question.

To make a table of contents, you need to format headings that you wish to appear in your table of contents with Heading styles (Heading 1, Heading 2 and Heading 3).

Then go to Insert - Reference - Indexes and Tables and choose the Table of Contents tab, then click OK.

Word should then be able to generate a table of contents for you which displays the headings you have formatted with heading styles. If you make changes to the document and need to update the table of contents, click within the table of contents and press the F9 key.

I hope this helps.
Amanda

Word tip:

Type Out a Table

Tables can be created by simply typing out a string of PLUS SIGNS (+) and MINUS SIGNS (-).

First start the row with a PLUS SIGN (+) and then type MINUS SIGN (-) until you have the column width you want. To add a new column type PLUS SIGN (+) again. When you're done type a final PLUS SIGN (+) and press ENTER.

Word turns your text into a table. To add more rows to your table, move to the last cell in the table and press TAB.

Ensure to turn on the AutoFormat feature in Word.
That is, on the Tools > AutoCorrect menu. Select the AutoFormat As You Type tab and select the Tables check box.
