How do i use the dollar sign and IF formatting?

Hi Esther,

Dollar Sign $ is Absolute Reference.

If you need to reuse the same cell in different formula, you will absolute reference a cell address.

e.g. Multiplying a VAT amount onto a list of price
A1: £10
B1: =A1*$C$1
C1: 17.5%

If there is a list of price down column A, you may fix the VAT cell address C1 by pressing F4 button on keyboard.
Copy the formula down on column B.

A2: £40 B2:=A2*$C$1
A3: £20 B3:=A3*$C$1
A4: £35 B4:=A4*$C$1
....etc.
