is having a table with

order ref (PK, Autonumber)
order number

date sent

in third normal form?

Hi Paul

Yes. The table is in Third normal form.

A table is in Third normal form, if it is a table with a single primary key where ALL the fields relate to the primary key.

In your table you seem to have 2 order identifiers:

Order ref as a Autonumber seems to be the Primary key and a Order Number.

I have done this because I was told elsewhere that primary keys should ALWAYS be autonumber, even though my order number fields will be unique
