Sara has attended:
Dreamweaver 8 Introduction course
Dreamweaver 8 Intermediate course

Dreamweaver 8 v MX 2004

Should I be able to see the images I have chosen on my template before applying it to my pages? I think it's a question of the root folder, but I need clarification, please.

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

Images showing in dreamweaver templates

Sara,

Yes, depending on how your directories are structured, sometimes your images may not show in the template, but do on the pages that use the template.

This is because a template may be pointing to ../image/pic.jpg (the first two dots mean 'go back out of the templates folder'). Whereas, pages using the template only need to point to image/pic.jpg

Dreamweaver should be able to differentiate between the two however, and in most cases show the image for both templates and pages.

If you need more clarification, please reply with your directory set-up so I can do further research.

I hope you enjoyed the course today.

Rich

Dreamweaver tip:

JumpMenu in new window

When inserting a jumpmenu to a page, the only option available for 'open in' is usually 'main window'. There would be other options available if the page was a frameset.

To change the jumpmenu to open in a new window, change the target parameter of the selectbox in your code to 'window.open()'.

eg.
<select name="menu1" onChange="MM_jumpMenu('window.open()',this,0)">
