how do I print a spreadsheet on one page of a4 or make sure that it isnt split out across several pages?

select the print area by highlighting it and then going file > print area > set print area.

then you need to go file > page setup... and select the 'fits into 1 page wide by 1 page tall bit about halfway down the dialogue box.
