Access Advanced course

Microsoft Access

When entering details onto a form is there any way to duplicate more than one field from the previous answers already entered. (I know you can go to design view, then properties, then event and by pressing the button with '...') this keeps records the same as prevoiusly entered, but you have to do this every time you enter the form. Is There any other way of doing this?

RE: Microsoft Access

Hi Samantha,
Thanks for your post, to duplicate the field above in a table you can press the keyboard combination CTRL+' (apostrophy)

RE: Microsoft Access

If you have more than one field in a form that needs to be kept the same as previous entry (In form) is there anyway to duplicate the same infomation from prevoius form enrty without keep pressing CTRL+' in each field?

RE: Microsoft Access

Hi again Samantha, Well after much searching the only way I can come up with is to copy the entire record, open a new record and paste the details, sorry if this is not what you want to accomplish, please come back if you have any more to add, regards Pete

RE: Microsoft Access

Thank-you Pete!

Access tip:

Splittng a database

Split your database into two (at least).

Keep all of your code, forms, reports, etc. in one 'code' database and all of your tables in another 'data' database which is then linked to the 'code' database.

This makes modifications, updates and back-ups that much easier and allows you to work on a new version of your 'code' database without affecting existing users. It also makes it easier should you wish to convert a single user databases into a multi-user networked version.
