Thanks for your question - Is your Calendar in a .pst file or is your mailbox stored on Microsoft Exchange?

In that case Jane you need to speak to your system administrator as they will have the necessary permission to carry out changes such as this.

Emptying mail bin when exiting Outlook 2010

If you prefer not to have hundred's of messages pile up in your Deleted Items folder in Outlook 2010, click on the File menu, then Options, then click Advanced, find the Outlook Start and Exit section. Check the box next to Empty Deleted Items folder when exiting Outlook.
