how do you search a task which will reveal all its dependancies with other tasks

Hi Jason,

If you just need to see the dependencies for a task then if you look at the entry table on the GANNT chart you will see a column that shows the predecessors for each task. You can then add a Successor column by right clicking on the header row and selecting insert column and choosing successors.

Hi Stephen - what i was really getting at was in a long complex ms project schedule which has a long list of tasks . with a mix of takss that are joined as a dependancy and those that are not - is there a view that shows me only tasks that have a dependancy ? hope that makes sense

coz i might want to just look at the dependancies in someone elses mpp that i inheret say and make sure they really are dependancies

Project tip:

Keep constraining dates to a minimum

As far as possible avoid fixing the dates of your tasks. For example try to steer of clear dragging task bars in the Gantt chart to move them on the timeline or entering dates directly into the Start / Finish fields.

Date constraints such as these limit Microsoft Project's ability to automatically adjust your project whenever you add, remove or modify the duration of your tasks. Instead use the logic in your task dependencies that link your tasks to enable Project to calculate the start and finish dates for you.
