Hi Alasdair, Thank you for your post, well as I am sure you have discovered, Excel 2007 lends itself to keyboard commands, and I am sure that your ALT key will soon be worn out, press the Alt key and you will see a character appear above each command as your next key press. Excel tip:

Using an equal (=) sign that isn't part of a formula

Before you type the equal sign, type an apostrophe: '
Then type your equal sign: = (and anything else you want to add after your equal sign)
Press ENTER.

(the apostraphe will disappear
