Hi Hugh,
What version of Dreamweaver are you running?
There were some known problems with MX and 8:
known problem with Dreamweaver MX
known problem with Dreamweaver 8.
Macromedia released patches - see links above for more info.
Something to do with IE7 or registry settings.
It could also be your Hosting provider's settings. You could check with them and see if they have any settings which stops Dreamweaver saving your password.
