Hi Bernard,

It depends on which version of Photoshop. For example, Photoshop 5 is limited to a maximum of 100 layers per document, but is further limited by the amount of memory in your system.

8000 layer limit for Photoshop 6.

You should also use Layer 'sets' if you have many layers in your file.
