by - trainer Sandy silver contributer[93 posts] (2007 Nov 23 Fri, 14:37) Edited on 2007 Nov 23 Fri, 14:42 replyReply

Hello

I have to create tables which does not have any borders. So when I create my table I always select it and turn off the lines from the borders toolbar.

I cannot understand why my table gridlines also disappears. I cannot see my table when this happens. Please can you help?

Thank You.

Hi

This problem is due to your Table menu, displaying Show Gridlines. This means that your table gridlines are off.

To turn on, select Table menu, choose Show Gridlines and your table gridlines will display.

Because you have turned off the borders when you type your data and choose Print Preview you will only see your written text with no border lines.

Hope this helps.

Word tip:

Type Out a Table

Tables can be created by simply typing out a string of PLUS SIGNS (+) and MINUS SIGNS (-).

First start the row with a PLUS SIGN (+) and then type MINUS SIGN (-) until you have the column width you want. To add a new column type PLUS SIGN (+) again. When you're done type a final PLUS SIGN (+) and press ENTER.

Word turns your text into a table. To add more rows to your table, move to the last cell in the table and press TAB.

Ensure to turn on the AutoFormat feature in Word.
That is, on the Tools > AutoCorrect menu. Select the AutoFormat As You Type tab and select the Tables check box.
