When you type dates in the format of 12.12.2007 in a cell Excel sees this is text. Dates should always be typed in as 12/12/07. To change this format quickly:
1. Select cells to be converted e.g. A6:A26
2. Edit menu, Replace
3. Find What: .
4. Replace with: /
5. Choose Search by Columns
6. Click Replace All
