Creating a selectbox form element

by - trainer Rich platinum contributer[744 posts] (2007 Jan 22 Mon, 17:03) replyReply

Hi Karen,

I assume you are talking about a "select box", sometimes known as a drop-down menu, which is a form element, covered on our Dreamweaver Intermediate training course.

To do this, go to Insert -> Form -> List/Menu. Give it a label if you desire, then press OK. Allow the form tag to be created if it prompts you. Now select the newly inserted selectbox and look at the Properties panel. Here you'll see the name (defaults to 'select') and a button labelled List Values. Press this button to bring up a dialogue box. Here you can press the [+] button to keep adding new items to appear in the selectbox. The Item Label is what the visitor will see, while the Value is the information that actually gets passed through to the web site server for processing.

I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you require any further information or clarification. Thanks for choosing Best Training.

Regards, Rich
