Access - Working with more people at same time?

Access Introduction course

Hi

Our database is saved on a server, accessible for more people. Is it possible to get some sort of message when I want to work in it, that I can see who is working in it. (Like with a shared Excel sheet?)

Thanks

Adrienne

Hi Adrienne

Thank you for your question regarding using Access in a multi-user environment.

Microsoft Access was designed to be used in multi user environment, so it is a little different from Excel. As far as we know there is no LISt that yuo can refer to to see who is connected to the database.

The default setting for an Access database is to allow many users to connect to it. There are options to enable USERS with SECURITY settings and permissions. In this way you can control WHO is accessing what part of the database.

Access tip:

Convert A Form Into A Report

If there is a form that you want to to save as a report:

1. Open that form in Design View
2. Select File and Save As
3. In the Save As Dialog box Select Report

The system creates a report based on the form.
