Dear Laura

Thank you for attending Excel Intermediate course

The best way to have separate Headers and footers in your document is to create Section Breaks. Please follow these steps:

Step 1: You simply click on the page previous to the page you want a separate header/footer on.
Step 2: Click on Insert > Break…
Step 3: Choose one of the option. If you already have your document type you might want to choose Continuous.
NB: Now you have two separate sections that can have separate header and footers.
Step 4: Go to View> Headers and Footers… Observe that the Dotted lines where it says Header should say Section 1
Step 5: Enter any header or footer you want to add.
Step 6: Still being on the Header and Footers go to the page you inserted the section break. It should say Section 2. But what you’ll notice is that the same header and footer appear as section 1.
Step 7: If you look on the Headers/Footers Toolbar at the Fourth Button from the right hand side called the Link to previous. You need to press that. Please remember that it will only be active if you are on the Section 2. If you are on Section 1 then it will be greyed out!!
Step 8: Enter your new Header or footer and that should give you the desired results.

Hope this helps

Kindest Regards

Word tip:

Changing default folder location for opening and saving

If you are always opening documents from and/or saving documents to a specific location that is not My Documents, save time by setting this folder as the default for opening files from and saving files to.

Here's how:
1. Go to Tools - Options.

2. Select the File Locations tab.

3. Under File Types, select Documents.

4. Use the Modify dialogue box that appears on your screen to navigate to the folder you wish to set as your default.

5. Select the folder, click OK, and click OK again.

You have now changed the default folder for opening and saving documents.
