Hi Amanda, Thank you for your post, I hope you had a good holiday break, in answer to your question, to remove the default tabs and indents:
Note: these options are only valid on the current document;
First the tabs; go to Menu command Format, Tabs, and in the Default Tabs input text box insert 0 (zero).
Secondly the Indents, select the entire document, go to the Menu command Format, Paragraph and in the Indentation section ensure indents are set at Zero and on the Special indents dropdown choose none.

To add summary automitcally you can use Words Autosummarise option found under the Tools menu
