Missing action query options

Louise has attended:
Access Intermediate course

Hi,

The database I use does not offer the following action queries via query wizard/any of the query building forms: Make-table query, update query, append query, delete query. The only one available is cross-tab query.

Is there any way of writing these functions in SQL - particularly make-table and update (I can append via CSV).

Thanks

Hello Louise,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Access course with BEST Training.
Thank you for your question regarding missing action query options

If you are unable to see the query types, it may be that you do not have the permissions to access that part of database functionality.

A suggestion to bypass that, is to hold the SHIFT key when you open the database. This will override any built in security macros that will stop you from using the query functionality.

If this is the case, you need to go to TOOLS > STARTUP, and then tick the appropriate boxes to give you access to menu items and toobars.

And yes, you can write the SQL statements.

Make-table query = CREATE or INTO
Update query = UPDATE
Append query = APPEND
Delete query = DELETE

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
Regards,

Richard
