Master Documents in Word 2007

Sarah has attended:
Access Introduction course

by - delegate Sarah [4 posts] (2008 Jan 18 Fri, 13:03) replyReply

Why does a section break keep appearing and how can I permanently get rid of them since they keep messing up the formating!

Also - I've read online instructions for how to change the file name of a subdocument but when I do it, all it does is create my 'new' file, I cannot get the link within the master document to change also.

Thanks for your help

Hello Sarah,
I hope you enjoyed your Access Introduction training course.

In response to your question, I have not come across section breaks automatically appearing, but the easiest way to remove them is to click on the "Show/Hide" button on the Standard Toolbar. This button looks like a backwards letter "P". You can then see all the components that act in the background of your document, and delete anything that is interfering with your formatting.

With regard to your question on subdocuments, how are you renaming the file? When you rename or move a subdocument, you should do so from within the master document (that is, you should open the subdocument from within the master document and then rename the file). If you are doing this and are still experiencing the issue, could you please tell me specifically the steps you are taking to save the file, and I will look more into it?

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
If you require further assistance, please reply to this post, and feel free to ask any other questions!

Have a great day.
Regards,
Mara

Word tip:

Table Headers on Subsequent Pages

To make sure that your tables if they carry on to subsequent pages have a Table header on each page.
Select the rows at the top of the table which you would like to repeat on subsequent pages, select Table, Heading Rows Repeat. Note this does not work if you insert a hard page break (CTRL+Enter)
