Excel Advanced course

Filtering and subtotalling

How do you filter a list and then provide subtotal figures for selected criteria and display the subtotals on the sheet?

RE: Filtering and subtotalling

Hi Cavell

Thank you for your question - this is an interesting one.

Perhaps if you try applying subtotals first, then filtering afterwards, this might provide what you are looking for.

Otherwise you can set up an advanced filter (Data - Filter - Advanced filter) to apply the filter and choose to use the Copy to another location option to separate the filter result from the list/table of data; then apply subtotals to this.

I hope these suggestions help.
Amanda
