% complete question

When i go into my plan and mark items as 100% complete i currently can get two issues

1. after saving, and going back into the plan, its back to 0% (we work with project enterprise and wonder if related)

2. Some of my tasks wont allow me to mark as 100% complete, i dont get an error, it just shows at 0%

3. On summary tasks, if i have 10 sub tasks underneath and all but one item is marked as 100% complete, the summary task shows as 0% until they all are marked up at 100%, typically i would expect the summary to roll up the amount underneath and average it out

RE: % complete

Hello Natalie,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Projectr Advanced course with Best STL.

Thank you for your question regarding the % Complete operation not updating the Summary Tasks and also reverting back to 0% after reopening the file.

Project Enterprise uses Project Server to control all project data. You should have someone who controls the server and who should be able to fix this issue for you.

I came across a site which was discussing a similar issue (they were using PWA) and I have provided you with a link to this site:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/projectserver/en-US/ec59a574-450b-4391-972b-662c21306999/project-complete-at-100-for-all-tasks-but-is-not-showing-100-in-pwa

Part of their solution was to restart the server and clear the cache. They reopened the file which showed all tasks reset back to 0% complete. They then changed tasks back to 100% complete and published. The Summary Tasks then showed as 100% complete.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved and let me know.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

MS Project tip:

Avoid Accidental Constraints

The initial default table is the Entry table. Enter a task name and duration, but do not enter start or finish dates. Form the plan using links, predecessors. Typing dates introduces constraints. To remove these constraints, double click on a task, and on the Advanced page of Task Information set the constraint back to As Soon As Possible (all other options are there too.)
